There is a couple of reasons why you may be outranked by your competetion. I am going to explain how and why you may be being outranked.

Reason #1 

They have more content than you. When having a website it is important to have little content to keep the lazy american interested but to have enough for google to process and deem you as a reliable source and business for your niche. When creating a website it is important to try and have 1500 words on your home page, 750 words on each service page, and around 250 words on your about you page. 

Reason #2 

They have more keywords and better keywords. An example of a keyword would be if you are a plumber in Chicago and a customer Googles "Plumber Chicago IL." There more you have this phrase on your website the better you will be ranked for it and the more you will more pop up when searched.

Reason #3

Better and more backlinks. Backlinks are the number of times you are mentioned on another site such as yellow pages, yelp, etc. More backlinks does not always mean you will rank better. As many things in life backlinks are the same, quality over quantity.

The most efficient approach to accomplish this and rank among the top results on a search page is through SEO. So that brings up the question. Will SEO work for me? Short answer "yes." The real question should be how can I make SEO work for me? SEO is not just as simple as throwing together backlinks and hoping for the best. The things that worked in 2020 may not work the same in 2022.
